Thanks for the list, Sandra. I see some things I need to be reminded of from time to time. This will make a great checklist to keep on hand. It's kind of nice that some things stay the same, isn't it?

Tricia

I remember those Led Zeppelin days. That was devil's music. Lol.

I love to hear when hard work pays off. Thank you for sharing.

Becky Tidberg

Love hearing from Sandra! Thought you made a great point about knowing when to stop asking for feedback. Sometimes we get stuck in "analysis paralysis" and never submit what we've worked so hard on.

Robbie Iobst

Great list and great reminders!

Steve

That's an excellent list, Sandra. As an editor, I'd say the one item on the list that can never be overemphasized is the need to edit, edit, and edit again.

It's always surprising how much clearer and better a first draft will become after a second draft, third draft, and sometimes even fourth or fifth draft.

That's what separates merely good writing from truly great writing.

Incidentally, I was a Led Zeppelin fan growing up, and upon introducing our youngest son to Stairway to Heaven, he became one, too.

Thanks for the sage advice. I'm just getting started and I've recently had my first article accepted by MomSense magazine (for Mothers of Preschoolers). For future articles, I'll be sure to refer to your list so it won't be my only article!

Sandra Bishop

Congrats, Kristen!

MomSense is great. Keep going!

***Amish books*** snicker. Tomorrow I wear a bonnet on Facebook as a publicity stunt for The Hillbilly Bible. Don't miss it, y 'all!

Lisa

Led Zeppelin USED to be your favorite band? That just leaves me totally dazed and confused, but maybe I'm just another fool in the rain. See ya! Gotta ramble on!
